    • AWANA is open to all children in the area.

AWANA has begun for the year 2016 - 2017!!!

AWANA meets every Wednesday night, while public school is in, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

The acronym for AWANA comes from II Timothy 2:15 and stands for Approved WorkmenAre Not Ashamed. AWANA’s goal is to "reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and to train them to serve Him."

Trained leaders guide the children through Bible-based, Christ-centered, age-appropriate material.

Club meetings are divided into three basic sections:
Game Time A fun time of playing games on the game circle and at the same time learning sportsmanship. Encourages both individual and team competition.
Handbook Time Clubbers complete handbook sections and achievements. Leaders are able to encourage and motivate clubbers to learn and memorize scripture.
Council Time All clubbers get together for singing and Bible teaching by special guests. Awards are given out at this time.

Cubbies - For preschoolers during the two years prior to regular kindergarten ( 3 and 4 year olds, and 5 year olds that have not started Kindergarten). It involves parents in the teaching – learning process, and uses the basic AWANA elements of Bible memorization, handbooks, awards, and activities. These activities are geared for their age level by using the basic preschool concepts of colors, shapes, numbers, and letters.

Sparks - For boys and girls grades K through 2nd grade. Sparky, the friendly firefly, appears throughout the Bible-based materials to encourage clubbers to complete their handbook achievements. Sparks have Game Time, Handbook Time, and Council Time separate from the older age groups.

TNT - Truth & Training is for girls and boys in grades 3rd - 6th. Adventure and Challenger groups both have books to reach this older group of clubbers. They also have Game Time, Handbook Time and Council Time.

We have special emphasis nights throughout the year, all listed on our AWANA calendar.

First Baptist Church currently does not offer Puggles (ages 2 & 3)  or Jr. Varsity or Varsity (7th through 12th grades) AWANA Clubs, however,  this age group is in the youth ministry and has "Wednesday Night Praise & Worship".
